So, that design I mentioned before has finally gone live. Luckily enough, Betabrand thought was was good enough to make it pass the screening process, so now it's up to be voted for. After which, if it gets enough votes, it'll go to the crowd-funding stage and so on. I don't know the exact process yet, but it'll eventually go into production if everything goes well. You can swing by and submit your vote here:

And remember, though greatly inspired, this design is a totally original concept. It doesn't infringe on any copyright laws held by any party and is 100% of my own creation. Any similarities drawn to other properties are purely super-duper coincidental. Comprende? Thanks.

Hopefully if this one goes well it'll open up some possibilities to make more.

So, I don't like writing stuff like this - mainly because it just gives people a reason to complain about the way I talk and I'd rather not deal with that kind of feedback - but this may be of some importance to some of you, so I'm doing it. To all those that are just here to complain: Whatever. Leave. I don't know what to tell you.

First - I've made another page recently where I've been uploading all of my newest conceptual merchandise designs, hence why there hasn't been any activity from me on DA for a while. I wasn't going to give out the link at first, since I wanted it to be a private portfolio, but that would've also hindered by ability to get work. So, here it is:

seventhirtytwo.blogspot.com

Oh, and I removed the comment feature so the page could retain some level of decency. Enjoy it. Or don't. Who cares.

Second - After setting up the new page and coming up with new concepts to add to it, I remembered seeing an old message in my DA inbox about a certain site that allows designers to crowdfund a particular idea of theirs, and then if the idea gains enough votes or whatever it then goes into production for folks to buy. So, I looked into it a bit more and it seemed like a really easy thing to do, at least on my end.
I submitted one of my designs to them a few weeks ago and just recently got a reply saying that they're down for allowing it to be voted for. I'm not 100% on how the whole thing works yet, but I think that the idea first gets posted, people vote on it, then if it gets enough votes it goes to the crowdfunding stage, sort of like Kickstarter, after which if it does well they produce it.

There's still some back-and-forth I have to do with them, but it looks like one of these things will finally have a chance to be made real, and isn't that all you guys really care about?

So to finalize this - once everything's been sorted out and the aforementioned idea goes live for voting, I'll come back here and post a link for anyone that's interested. And if the whole thing ends up being a failure, then whatever. Doesn't hurt me at all.

That's it. I'll be in touch.

Question.

Does anybody know of an alternative site to DeviantArt? Preferably one that has privacy settings.

I originally started posting my designs to show friends and to have an online portfolio, but it's gotten too out of hand with the popularity it's gained and doesn't have the stature I had originally planned for it anymore. I'm now looking for somewhere I can post my work to that it won't be seen by the general public, or at the very least, has an option to limit who sees.

So yeah, if there are any more sites like this that have a bit more professionalism to them, I'd appreciate a hookup.

This is my email address. This is meant for those who have any serious inquiries, questions, advice, offers, or whatever. I repeat - serious. For those who feel the urge to send an email asking where I sell merchandise or for how much or anything of the sort, please refer to the FAQ. I'm going to do my best to hurt your feelings if you send me anything that has already been addressed there.

FAQ: Merch

2 min read
This mostly refers to the DC-related material I post. The same questions pop up constantly, so this is just a quick reference to the most common. I will not reply to any messages/comments sent to me that are able to be answered here.

What program do you use to make the designs?
Adobe Photoshop CS6
Adobe Illustrator CS6

Do you sell them/where can I buy one/how much are they?
Everything in the Merch section is strictly concept art. Nothing has been printed or has been planned to be printed anytime soon.

Why aren't they for sell?
Most of the designs have iconography that is obviously intellectual property of Warner Bros. Me commercializing off of them would violate WB's property laws. I'm sure there are ways around this, but I don't want to play too close to the line and get on their bad side. I respect their properties too much for that.

Are there any future chances of them being officially made/sold?
I've contacted WB and pitched the idea to them; they said that they would have a look and contact me if there was an interest, but that was months ago, so they apparently never got around to it or just aren't interested. It doesn't matter to me either way, because I've long since lost interest in trying to pursue getting them printed.

Could I use the design to make my own?
Sure, that's fine. I have no qualms about anyone using them as a reference to make their own. Producing my designs for the purpose of selling them en-masse, however, I will take issue with. I reserve all the rights to my work and do not approve of others utilizing them for their own commercial benefit. I don't have any layouts or flat renders of the designs though, so you'll just have to go from the concept image. Crediting my work is also mandatory for any expression of these designs.

Do you take requests to design certain characters?
No.

What about the other non-DC designs?
Most of those are pretty much in the same boat. They either have licensing attributed to them, or would be too costly to create, let alone sell at a decent price.

Where do you get your clothing templates?
Google Images.

More will be posted after they're proven repetitive.
